Sustainability

Mail Services is committed to making the campus a greener environment. Here are some of the sustainable practices Mail Services has spearheaded on campus.

We collaborate with on-campus departments, Campus Recycling, and local small businesses to maintain the Toner Cartridge Recycling Program. Its success has made UC Berkeley one of the largest toner cartridge recyclers in the country.

CAL Shredding is another sustainable program provided by Mail Services. All shredded documents are recycled, along with "junk mail" and plastic film (i.e. shrink wrap).

Additionally, Mail Services has replaced their gasoline-consuming van with an eco-friendly Chevrolet Uplander. We further reduce our impact by doing all of our printing on paper made from at least 30% post-consumer content. We continue to pursue new ways of reducing our impact on the environment, and keeping UC Berkeley green.

Want to reduce your "junk mail" volume either at work or at home? Check out Catalog Choice at http://www.catalogchoice.org/. With a little effort on your part, they can help you reduce the volume of unsolicited mail you receive. The best part is it is free!
